Maroussia is a self-taught photographer whose captivating images distinguish themselves through their profound expression. As a pure product of multiculturalism and having being raised in a very politically active family, her contrasting experiences fuelled a fascination for social divisions, complexities and justice, which have led her to study International Relations.

Earning a Masters in Development Studies, she has since worked as an International Development professional for Amnesty International, the UN and other Development Institutions.

Alongside this, the need to understand, investigate, show and fight inequalities in the world became crucially important callings, which fed an inexhaustible hunger for photography. As she focuses her work on presenting her vision of humanity, seeking out, moving, at times unsettling, perspective shifting images of life and the living, Maroussia also tries to discover through her journey and photographs new dimensions of the physical and human world: the peculiar, the funny, the lovely and the terrifying.

"Her humanitarianism is unmistakable in her pictures however her motivations lie in her passion for the lens and the sheer joy of what she does. Her photographs are free of special effects; it is the rawness, the reality that creates ‘that moment’. Her photography is at her image, sensitive, powerful, strong with personality, always showing some light!".
